So, this movie is on Netflix. That’s where you can see it.
The Killer is a film about an assassin, a killer if you will, and how his life changes after he makes a big goof ‘em up.
Michael Fassbender plays the lead role and does so, as always quite well.
The film is a bleak look at: “what if bad man seeks revenge after worse man do thing to bad man?”
It’s a solid film if you’re into those sorts of things.
The film is directed by David Fincher, who you may know from Gone Girl, Alien 3, and Benjamin Button. I am incredibly hit or miss with Fincher. I love The Social Network and Zodiac despite hating them the first time I watched them.
I do not know if The Killer will be given a second chance in my life. Most likely, yes. If for no other reason than the fact that I watched this film on an iPad over the course of a few days which, to say the least, is not how God intended us to watch movies.
So, I’d imagine the movie to be quite good when watched on a large screen in succession, but as it stand and I sit. The film was fine.
If not for Fassbender’s competency as a performer, I don’t think I would have enjoyed the film. As usual the soundtrack to this film is great, the camera work incredible, and the overall tone of the picture clear. The cast and crew clearly put their backs into it, but I think simply the film is too grim and slowly paced for me to enjoy it.
It’s grimdark-edgelord-not-like-other-girls attitude I found annoying to say the least.

However, I will say this: my shining light throughout the entire film is Fassbender’s wardrobe. He’s in what I like to call “Tristan mode” meaning that he’s in bucket hats and Aloha shirts throughout the film.

His character also uses and iPod seemingly only loaded up with The Smiths’ songs which services as tonal markers throughout the film to great effect.

The runtime is 118 minutes.
